You have an idea for a post, but you're not sure if it is your story to tell or if you'd be causing harm by doing so.

You want to create a post, but don't know how to ensure it is accessible so your entire audience is able to engage.

You’ve done the work and you understand that everyone has a part to play in dismantling the often racist, in-accessible and inequitable systems we live in — but how that shows up online feels like a daunting question mark.

I’m Jenny Jay, and just like you, I’ve been on a long journey of learning, seeking education, and growing to be a better person each and every day.

When I first started my journey in gender & anti-racism education in 2014, I was disappointed — but it wasn’t with the amount of information.

Instead, it was by how inaccessible the language and delivery of information was — because, for starters, these conversations were more often than not, classist, with language that is only made for people who have gone through post-secondary or academic institutions.

And none of it was practical.

As a storyteller and creator, all of my education over the last 7 years has become integral to the content that I write, create, and share. Add that to my lived experiences as a South Asian woman with experiences with in/visible disability, living unhoused and without financial security, and existing in my other identities, I recognize the difference it makes when spaces are created in a way that recognizes you and validates your experiences.

Together, I truly believe we can make spaces — especially online, spaces for change.

Because now more than ever, this is important.
